MSC Grandiosa, our newest flagship, has been welcomed into the MSC Cruises’ fleet by paying tribute to the port of Hamburg in a dazzling display of lights and fireworks as she sailed along the River Elbe. With A-list celebrity presenters and musicians, the sparkling, star-studded Christening Ceremony held in Hamburg November 9th has been an event like no other.
Italian screen legend Sophia Loren was born in Rome and grew up in Naples. She began working at a young age as a character in photo-romance magazines and fought hard to win her first small roles in films. From there her talent and beauty made her an Italian and international icon, known and admired all over the world. Considered the most popular Italian actress of all time, she has won numerous awards, including an Oscar for her role in La Ciociara (Two Women). Loren is godmother to the entire MSC Cruises fleet.
Vibrant and self-deprecating Michelle Hunziker is an all-around entertainer with a wicked sense of humour. Born in Switzerland to a Dutch mother and a Swiss-German father, she moved to Italy in 1993, embarking three years later on a hugely successful TV career.
Highlights include co-presenting the Italian shows Striscia la Notizia, Zelig and Paperissima as well as several editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, alongside acting roles in various comedies and sit-coms. She has worked extensively in theatre and cinema, while also pursuing a parallel career on German TV. She lives in Milan, and is the mother of three wonderful girls.
Humorous, dedicated, radiant. Jochen Schropp is one of the most likeable entertainers in Germany. Born in Berlin in 1978, he not only studied acting but also took singing lessons and dubbed voice. Whether as a guest of a talk show, presenter of a prime time show or as an actor in a blockbuster - no task is too big for Jochen.
Mousse T.’s career spans over 30 years and is arguably one of the best House producers to come out of Germany. After he co-founded the legendary Peppermint Jam Records label with Errol Rennalls, he created infectious hits such as ‘Horny’ and ‘Sex Bomb’ a classic collaboration with Sir Tom Jones.
Since then he has gone on to gain an Ivor-Novello Award, a Grammy Award nomination and most recently a primetime television career as a judge on DSDS (Germany’s Got Talent).
Emma Lanford started singing in the school choir at an early age and was spotted during a performance in her hometown of Birmingham in the UK and was soon on her way to Germany to work with record producer Mousse T.
Working together produced a string of hits which include ‘Horny’, ‘Fire’, ‘Is it Cos I’m Cool?’ and ‘Right About Now’. They have performed together in the Bundesvision Song Contest in 2005 and she has appeared at the Schauspielhaus Hannover as ‘Cat’ in Mousse T.’s musical version of Alice in Wonderland.
